Find out where our farm name came from!
☀️Are you curious where our name came from? I’m going to dive into the story…
I grew up in Nebraska, but my husband and I lived in Colorado for about 10 years. We moved back in 2017 to be closer to family and to start our dream of having a small farm. Before we could move to the property that is now our farm, there was about a month where we stayed with my dad and step mom. Our home in Colorado had sold and our current home was not ready to move into yet. My dad is a pastor and we were attending his church one Sunday. As you can imagine, we had a lot on our minds at this time. We had just sold our previous business and home, moved to Nebraska with our two young children, and were now starting a new farm. The hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness” was one of the worship songs that morning. As we were singing the line “Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow. Blessing all mine with ten thousand beside. Great is thy faithfulness!” It really stuck with me. Our little family had so many blessings and obstacles that fell into place along the way of this moving journey, but we still needed a lot of strength to finish out our plan. Plus, anyone who has started a seed knows about all the hope that goes into the growing process. I leaned over to Andy and said, “What do you think of Bright Hope as a farm name?” I should also add that I’m terrible at naming things. Andy has named pretty much every animal and child in our family. He said he liked it and we went with it, taking that hope with us. We moved to the farm in late summer of 2017. That fall we prepped some ground and planted garlic. I joke that maybe we should have named the farm “Hope You Like Garlic” because we had absolutely no idea what we had gotten ourselves into and how much it would become a part of us. Well, here we are over 5 years later hoping for a bright sixth season.
